Every market, by what's in the water

31 markets, ranked by operating fleet: what's built, what's under construction, and what each government has promised. A country page for each. China, the largest fleet, is tracked separately at the foot.

China

China has no single public project register, and for most farms we don't yet hold the permits and contracts behind our other markets, so its figures are reported, not verified. Why →

How this list is ordered. Markets are ranked by operating fleet, then by capacity physically under construction: steel in the water, with no editorial judgement involved. Built and building are summed from the project records. The third figure is the national target where a government has published one (or, where none exists, the project pipeline, labelled as such). Targets are shown as governments set them, from 2027 to 2050, so they are not a like-for-like scorecard. China is shown on its own below the ranking because its records rest on a project tracker and trade press rather than on permits and contracts. Numbers are derived live from the project records, the targets governments have set, and the auction rounds not yet held.
