Ocean Wind 2 (1,148 MW, BOEM lease OCS-A 0541 in the New York/New Jersey Bight) was cancelled simultaneously with Ocean Wind 1 on October 31, 2023 as part of Ørsted's US portfolio restructuring. Ocean Wind 2 was in early development at the time — it had no OREC awarded and no BOEM COP submitted. The total combined impairment for Ocean Wind 1 and Ocean Wind 2 was approximately DKK 28.4 billion (~USD 4.0 billion / EUR 3.7 billion), with the majority attributable to Ocean Wind 1. A separate provision of DKK 8-11 billion for cancellation fees was also taken for the US portfolio as a whole. The USD 125 million settlement with New Jersey in July 2024 covered both Ocean Wind 1 and Ocean Wind 2. Lease OCS-A 0541 was returned to the US government / BOEM. Ocean Wind 2 had no equity partners (100% Ørsted throughout); only one record is needed — the cancellation. Cancellation recorded as 'divestment' (asset disposition) — no buyer; this is a project termination event, analogous to the Ocean Wind 1 cancellation record.
