Synera Renewable Energy

Taipei, Taiwan

About

as of 2026-10

A Taipei-based offshore wind developer, called Swancor Renewable Energy until it renamed itself Synera Renewable Energy in November 2022, and supported by the infrastructure investor Stonepeak. In Taiwan it helped develop and deliver Formosa 1 and Formosa 2, and in May 2025 it raised its stake in Formosa 2 to 51%, taking majority ownership. Formosa 4, Formosa 5 and Formosa 6 are in progress in Taiwan, alongside development positions in Japan and South Korea. Most of its weight therefore sits in one market. That ties it to Taiwan's own policy and finance: in December 2025 it called on the government and local financial institutions to resolve credit support and project financing so the fully contracted Formosa 4 could start construction.

Strategic read

SRE Group, renamed from Swancor Renewable Energy in 2022 and backed by Stonepeak, says it develops, builds and operates offshore wind across Asia-Pacific with a pipeline of over 6 GW. Taiwan is the core: it helped deliver Formosa 1 (128 MW) and the 376 MW Formosa 2, where it took a 51% majority stake in May 2025, and has Formosa 4, 5 and 6 in progress. It also states 2 GW in development in Japan and 840 MW in South Korea. In December 2025 the 495 MW Formosa 4 was fully contracted under corporate power purchase agreements, and SRE called on the government and local banks to resolve credit support and project financing so construction can start. Formosa 6, awarded 800 MW in 2024, signed a corporate power purchase agreement with Star Trade in September 2026. Sahand Holm, formerly of Ørsted, became Group CEO in September 2026 and named disciplined project delivery among his immediate priorities.
